Keeping a youthful appearance is the primary motivation behind many types of cosmetic procedures. One particular type of procedure that is designed to keep people looking young is a lift procedure, especially a facelift. When many people think of these they likely think of the standard procedure most of the public knows about. However, there are many other types of procedures including the standard facelift, the neck, the eyelid and the brow lift.
The Standard Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
The standard facelift involves a surgeon cutting the face, generally from ear to ear, and then lifting the skin up to remove tissue and reattach the skin after it has been tightened and repositioned. It generally takes a person two to three weeks to recover enough before he or she can go back to work. Individuals getting a facelift run the risk of scarring, nerve damage and infection.
The Neck Lift
The neck lift involves the removal of fat and excess skin in the neck area. This is useful for both older and younger patients. It is great for older patients who have developed excess skin and wrinkling in the neck and offers younger patients who have excess neck skin due to genetics.
The Eyelid Lift
Even with a facelift, a person’s eyes may still make them look old and tired. Also, some people do not need an entire facelift; they only need a lift around the eyes to look more youthful. The eyelid lift is a significant addition to or replacement of a face lift, depending on a person’s circumstances. With this type of procedure, the surgeon will make an incision under or above the eyes (or both if under and over eye are being done) and remove the fat deposits and tighten the skin. Eye lifts can help a person to look younger because a lot of a person’s age shows around the eyes.
The Brow Lift
The brow lift brings up the skin above the brows to give a person a more open, younger look to the face. This is particularly helpful for individuals who have a brow line that looks angry or tired. This not only helps this area, but can complement other procedures as well.
The Benefits of Simultaneous or Concurrent Procedures
The benefits of getting more than one of these procedures, either at once or concurrently, is that the patient not only benefits by having one part of his or her face looking younger, but really in some cases the entire face. For example, if a person only has a brow lift, the rest of the face may look aged by comparison.
By getting many face lift procedures at once, a person can shorten recovery time, as they will be recovering from multiple cosmetic face lifts at once. This can be a great alternative for people wanting to undergo face lift surgery but also take the shortest amount off of work.
