E. Coli, Beef Recall, Antibiotics and Oregano: What Can I Do?

The recent, spreading E. coli breakout reminds us all to consider the following helps and tips:

First get the facts:

Due to an E. coli outbreak that started in August 2007, a beef recall has been announced nationwide.

At least 21 million pounds of beef made its way into the marketplace that might be contaminated with the potentially deadly E. coli 0157:H7 bacteria.

Several months' worth of meat production which is supposed to be inspected daily by the USDA, might be contaminated.

Wal-Mart has removed the products from its meat cases and is destroying the recalled ground beef still in its possession, officials said.

New Jersey Health Department spokesman Tom Slater said the state has four suspected cases. As many as 25 cases of illness recorded in eight states. CDC spokeswoman Lola Russell said three cases, two in New York and one in Florida are confirmed as being connected to the ground beef, with the other 18 cases possibly linked and under investigation.

The USDA confirms three people have been sickened from Topps products and are investigating 22 other cases.

E coli infections may be linked to beef recall Arizona state health officials contend they have tied two incidents to ground beef that was sold at 13 different supermarkets and under multiple brand names.

Second, what is E.coli?

E.coli

Coli bacteria can cause abdominal cramps and diarrhea, which maybe bloody. coli sometimes can lead to complications including kidney failure. coli causes intestinal illness that generally clears up within a week for adults but can be deadly for the very young, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.

Safety

The Department of Agriculture announced that it has suspended the grinding of raw products at the Topps plant after inspectors found inadequate safety measures at the Topps plant. He adds that Topps is working with the USDA, health officials, retailers, and distributors to ensure the safety of its products and has upgraded its internal quality control procedures for food safety. The Federal Occupational Health Safety Act of 1970 requires all employers provide a work environment safe from hazards, mandating things like potable water, hand washing and toilet facilities within a five minute walk from working areas. Another major meat company was also connected with contaminated meat.

Third: Consider the alternatives

E Coli results with Oregano and Helichrysum

In August 2005, Lilly Barke of Canada reported the following story, which was submitted to Oil-testimonials.com.

"I did a successful home treatment for gall stones. However, a severe pain developed in my lower abdomen and my husband eventually took me to the hospital. After two days of waiting for tests, I was told I had E coli in the blood. After two more days of waiting, I asked to go home and be given the antibiotic to take orally.

I went to a homeopath and was given two medications, which I thought were for any remaining gall stones and the E coli. I told him I use Young Living Essential Oils and asked if I could use oregano and helichrysum instead of the antibiotic. He said they would work but did not tell me to do it or to stop the antibiotic.

I stopped the antibiotic that day and instead, took three drops of oregano twice a day and 3 drops of helichrysum once a day in capsules for two weeks. I was very sick for over a week but fine when I next went to the homeopath after two weeks. He then told me both medications had been for the gall stones. He told me that by treating the E coli naturally, I would be immune to it for the rest of my life. Had I continued to take the antibiolic, I could have had liver damage."

Essential oil testimonials are an effective way of learning and sharing. With this knowledge, we can take control of our own health. However, the FDA has not evaluated these statements. Products and techniques mentioned are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Finally, don't Panic and check any symptoms with your doctor.
